State government drops appeal on former Newcastle post office decision

THE state government has backed down on an appeal of a Land and Environment Court decision that handed the former Newcastle post office to the Awabakal Local Aboriginal Land Council. The government lodged a notice of appeal earlier this month, which allowed it three months to consider a decision. However, it decided it would not appeal the decision.
