The Knights lost to the Rabbitohs 50-10 at Barlow Park on Sunday.
Newcastle coach Wayne Bennett said the Knights knew the onslaught was coming.
"There wasn't one of us in that change room that didn't know at any stage what they were going to throw at us."
Five games out from the play-offs, the Knights are 14th on the ladder and have next to no chance of making the finals.
Newcastle will take on Melbourne Storm this Saturday, August 9, at Hunter Stadium.
