East ward councillor Jason Pauling requested the application be debated publicly due to overwhelming community resistance.

Residents have complained about the $5 million development's size and character.

Cr Pauling has requested councillors will make a decision on the development application, which would have otherwise been determined by council staff.

The motion will be discussed at the next ordinary council meeting this Monday, August 25.

It is anticipated the development application will come back to council later this year as is still under assessment.
