EACH member of the Hunter Academy of Sport’s twenty-five talent development squads will be acknowledged at the academy’s annual presentation night to be held in the Great Hall at the University of Newcastle on Monday, September 1, at 7pm.

The members of the archery, athletes with a disability, Australian football, baseball, basketball, BMX, cheerleading, boys cricket, cross country running, cycling, golf, hockey, lawn bowls, special lawn bowls, netball, netball umpires, rugby union, sailing, softball, surfing, tennis, track and field (athletics), triathlon and water polo squads will receive certificates of participation, and outstanding squad members will be further acknowledged when a series of University of Newcastle scholarships and other special awards are presented.
The five most outstanding squad members in the academy will be further recognized by the night’s major awards – including trophies and scholarships – and now sponsored by Greater Building Society.
The top award is the Dave Williams Trophy for the outstanding participant in the academy’s talent development programs.
This presentation night will be attended by a number of special guests, sponsors, coaches, coordinators, consultants, program managers and academy administrators.
One of the highlights of the night will be a series of brief interviews conducted by Ross Allen outstanding sportspeople who have been involved with the academy’s programs including Lachlan and Alexander Wells (baseball), Nikki Hollingsworth (triathlon), Chloe Pearce (golf) and Jackson Baker (surfing).
The night is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
