NEWCASTLE bounced back from last week's humiliation at the hands of the Broncos to outclass Parramatta 42-12 at Hunter Stadium.
The loss all but ended the Eels' finals hopes as the Mata'utia brothers again starred for the Knights.
Chanel Mata'utia grabbed a hat trick of tries while younger brother Sione finished with a double.
Parramatta took the lead in the fourth minute courtesy of a Will Hopoate try before Chanel scored his first two tries of the day on the 17th and 25th minutes.
Tepai Moeroa then crossed for the Eels on 35 minutes to see Parramatta take a 12-8 lead into half-time.
However, it was one-way traffic in the second half as Newcastle ran in six tries to the Eels' none.
The Knights piled on 34 unanswered points as the Eels struggled to hold onto the ball running into a strong breeze.
Captain Kurt Gidley hoped that Newcastle's impressive home form during the back end of the season would ease the fans' pain after a difficult season.
Newcastle host bogey team St George-Illawarra at 2pm on Sunday afternoon, with both teams out of finals contention.
