Last year more than 1000 people volunteered their time to renovate Newcastle's five ageing surf clubs, with local companies also donating more than $600,000 in materials.
After a successful campaign in 2013, the CityServe volunteers are back with a bigger list of rundown facilities to fix up.
This year CityServe plans to carry out 70 projects in October that span across all four wards of Newcastle City Council area as well as pockets of Lake Macquarie.
These include painting Nesbitt Park pavilion and toilet block in Kotara, pressure cleaning the Adamstown Park No. 3 Pavilion, painting Elermore Vale community hall, and fixing the shade shelters at Warabrook Wetlands Reserve.
Pastor Rick Prosser said Wickham's Passmore Oval would be one of the biggest jobs, with 200 volunteers needed to clean, paint and fix up the grandstand, ticket box, toilets and kiosk.
"We have been working closely with Newcastle council to make sure all of the sites are ready to go for the volunteers," he said.
