We just need to see more of our young players in junior tournaments.

The larger the pool of juniors competing in tournaments, the greater the chance of champions emerging.

Local players who shone were Whitebridge's Rhys Searant, winner of the 16 and under boys singles; Hamilton South's Joel Bucci, winner of the 10 and under boys singles; Belmont North's Chloe Googh, winner of the 10 and under girls singles; Speers Point's Nick Lochrin, runner-up in the 18 and under boys singles; and Swansea's Bailey Messina, runner up in the 10 and under boys singles.
