Originating from Glasgow, John Swan, or Swanee as he is known by his fans, has been on the Australian music scene since he was 14.
Swanee played first as a drummer, then as a singer with many of the country's top rock'n'roll outfits.
In 1978 he released his debut album Into The Night.
Swanee's first major chart success was a rendition of Tim Hardin's If I Were a Carpenter.
Success with the next two singles from the album immediately followed.
In 1985, Mondo Rock's Paul Christie needed a new front man and sought "the best rock'n'roll voice in the country".
John Swan was asked and he accepted.
Now 62, Swanee is returning to Newcastle to perform.
You can catch the show at Wests Cardiff on Saturday, October 11.
