The Jets faced up against the under-20s national side, who are preparing for the AFC under-19s Asian Championships next month.
Newcastle dominated from the outset with left-back David Carney running riot on the left touchline.
Jeronimo Neumann had a shot crash off the crossbar before midfielder Jacob Pepper latched onto a cut-back from Carney to open to the scoring in the 18th minute.
Neumann did find the net in the 25th minute, with Carney again providing the assist.
A neat chip saw Young Socceroos' goalkeeper Anthony Bouzanis stranded and allowed Neumann to tuck the ball away for a two-nil lead.
The Jets open their A-League season with a derby match in Gosford against the Central Coast Mariners next Saturday, October 11.
