Holmesville Hotel will host the community's first billy cart derby as part of its 110th birthday celebrations.
While some entrants kept their carts hidden, Glenn Redman, of Barnsley, brought his cart out to show off.
Made of an old plastic chair and bicycle parts, it's an example of how everyday items can be made into something fun.
Mr Redman happily showed The Star how well his billy cart goes.
The derby is open to participants aged 12 and older.
Registration starts at 7.30am, and the first race will be held at 9am.
Two prizes will be awarded; one for artistic creativity and the other for the most imaginative use of repurposed materials.
About 2pm the Flattrakkers will perform.
Devonshire tea will be put on by Mum's Cottage, a charitable service in Holmesville that helps families in need. There will be food and craft stalls around the hotel.
