This Friday, October 17, will mark 50 days until the Games land in Lake Macquarie from December 6 to 11.
To celebrate, Lake Macquarie City Council is holding a School Torch Relay.
Twenty schools will participate in the event, which will see the official Games torch lit and carried from Warners Bay to Speers Point.
Charlton Christian College is among them.
Representing the school are year 5 and 6 students Nicholas Goodwin and Claudia Martin.
The pair were preparing for their role in the relay last Friday at a photo shoot for the school's newsletter.
Upon the torch's arrival at Speers Point Park, Lake Macquarie mayor Jodie Harrison will open the official proceedings.
Cr Harrison said the excitement was building across the city as the Games came one step closer.
The ceremony will be followed by free entertainment in the park.
The line up includes a performance from 2014 International Children's Games song competition winner Mia Sifflet as well as a jumping castle and a pirate show.
■The School Torch Relay will start at Warners Bay Lions Park at 10am and finish at Speers Point Park at 11am. For more information on the 2014 Lake Macquarie International Children's Games go to icg-lakemacquarie2014.com.
