MEREWETHER'S Ryan Callinan bowed out to championship tour surfer Julian Wilson at the prime-rated Cascais Pro in Portugal on the weekend, producing his equal-best effort in the qualifying series along the way.

Callinan managed back-to-back second placings in his first two four-man heats near Lisbon, which guaranteed him a round four spot and a meeting with Wilson.
Callinan has progressed to round four two other times this year on the QS, and put together scores of seven and 7.83, totalling 14.83.
However, Wilson managed scores of 8.93 and 6.87 to edge out Callinan with a total of 15.80.
The Queenslander was out in the semi-finals, which was won by Jadson Andre from Brazil.
