With the number of people living with mental illness climbing steadily, events such as The Mental Health Walk of Pride are a great way to show those affected they are not alone.
Community members will meet this Saturday, October 18 for the walk’s 10th anniversary to show their support.
The walk starts at 10am at Pacific Park before heading along Hunter Street to Civic Park.
Participants are encouraged to bring along their smiles to help raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental illness.
There will be live music and speakers as well as mini markets and pop-up entertainment around the park.
Local organisations such as Headspace will be on-hand to provide information.
Event organisers hope to provide opportunities for people to learn more about mental illness and where to go for help.
