That was three years ago this November, but judgment has been postponed until April or May 2015.
A council spokeswoman said the council was waiting for data from the first year of Cardiff Library's relocation before it decided on the fate of Belmont Library.
She said, to date, the shopfront version of Cardiff Library had been successful, with an increase in visits and loans.
Belmont's loans from July to September last year were at 44,402, and 39,881 this year for the same period.
Cardiff's, in comparison, were up significantly from 19,355 to 27,763 over the same months.
Belmont's visits were down from last year's 23,882 to this year's 22,235 over the July to September period with Cardiff's visits up from 10,855 to 18,353.
Save Belmont Library spokeswoman Robin Gordon said the library functioned as more than a data storage location; it was a village green.
She said if Belmont Library ended up receiving similar premises to Cardiff Library's shopfront location, the self-proclaimed "library watchdog committee" would be perfectly happy with it.
"We just don't want to lose services or resources," she said.
The library offers all sorts of activities, Mrs Gordon said.
