In the fourth instalment of Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery's CLICK: Schools in Focus project, students have created such an image.
All of the images showcase the San Clemente High School students' knowledge of lighting and composition, which helps them to create imaginative works of art.
Gallery director Debbie Abraham said the project was one of the ways it supported school photography projects.
"We have been impressed with the calibre of work that's been submitted," she said.
"They're really high quality and it's evident the students and their teachers are doing great work."
It is a collection of 23 images from year 9 and year 10 students, which illustrates how they see the world around them.
Viewers are able to get a sense of place, travel and transport, communication, culture, well-being and resilience through these abstract works.
One image focuses on raindrops blurring the background, giving it a moody, mysterious feeling.
Then there is the old Staffordshire bull terrier, patiently waiting for his nap.
Another student has shown a point of view as if the viewer was a creature climbing a tree.
The gallery prints and displays each image so that when the exhibit is over the students have a print to take home.
■ CLICK: Schools in Focus project is on display at Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery until Sunday, November 30.
