Stallholders said goodbye to The Junction Public School in December, which it has called home since 2008.
The school is going through a rebuilding stage this year after losing classrooms in the 1989 Newcastle earthquake.
The Olive Tree Market organiser Justine Gaudry said the move would allow the market to grow even more.
About 150 stallholders will sell illustrations, ceramics, jewellery, fashion, textiles, children's goods, artisan produce and upcycled wares.
Ms Gaudry said the new site was ideal because of its proximity to other cultural destinations and Darby Street cafes.
"It's a different context being in the heart of the city," she said.
She said she was looking at inviting artists from the gallery and musicians from the conservatorium to participate in the market.
"This part of town has really been under-utilised in the past."
"It will be great to be able to work with Newcastle council and really boost the cultural tourism in this town."
■ The Olive Tree Market launch for 2015 is Saturday, February 7 at Civic Park.
