THE threat of sharks and misty rain was no deterrent for about 100 spectators who flocked to Newcastle Harbour to watch the annual Ducks 4 Dollars fund-raiser.

With sharks lurking around the harbour over the weekend, the duck wranglers opted to stay out of the water this year, using IRBs to control the race.
Nobbys Surf Life Saving Club took out the club race while Godbee Electrical took out the red corporate duck race for local businesses.
First prize in the yellow duck race for individuals was sold by the Tea Gardens branch and was won by Garry McLeod, who took home $1500 in prize money.
Ellen Harford won the $1000 second prize, and bought her ticket through Caves Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
George Radmore's duck came in third. He took home $500 and bought his duck from Merewether Surf Life Saving Club.
All money raised goes back into Hunter Surf Life Saving Clubs and is used to buy lifesaving equipment.
