The 2014-15 Navy Australian Open surf boat series will travel to Shellharbour this Friday, February 20, for a weekend of gruelling competition.
A culmination of 30 events around Australia from October to February, the Australian Surf Rowers League final event will see crews battle it out for individual honours.
More than 300 crews from 100 surf lifesaving clubs across the nation will compete in open men and women; reserve men; under-23 men and women; under-19 men and masters divisions.
Among them will be competitors from Merewether, Cooks Hill, Stockton and Redhead.
Cooks Hill will have two reserve male crews and two masters crews - 160 years and 180 years - representing the region this weekend.
Coach Robert Silkman said "they should do fairly well", especially the masters crews.
Both won gold at the Swansea/Caves Beach branch titles last weekend.
