At just 15, Sydni has been invited to compete at the 2015 Track & Field Tour in Canada in June.
She is one of 60 young Australian athletes who will travel overseas to contest the tournament.
Sydni received her invitation from Sports Travel Australia in February after a strong performance at the NSW All Schools Track & Field Championships at Sydney Olympic Park last October.
The Warners Bay High School student recorded a personal best of 28 seconds in the 200-metre sprint.
It was her first state meet.
Last week Sydni ticked over a year with Macquarie Hunter Athletics Club.
Before that, she only dabbled in school athletics carnivals.
She said the invitation to compete internationally came as a surprise.
"I've always really liked [athletics]," she said.
"Going to Canada is an amazing opportunity but I didn't really expect anything like that to happen for a while.
"There are people out there who have been doing athletics a lot longer than I have."
Sydni will spend 19 days in Canada with her mother, Mandy Cordell.
She will compete at two, two-day meets, the first in Kelowna and the second in Vancouver.
While the 100m and 200m sprints are Sydni's main events, she will also enter a few field events, such as long jump and hurdles.
■ The Cordells need help to get there. The trip costs $7250 a person, so the pair have opened a bank account in Sydni's name to help fund the trip. Donations can be made to - BSB: 637 000; account number: 720680246.
