Harmony Day honours the nation's cultural diversity, from the traditional people of the land to those who have come from around the world.
The annual day is typically celebrated with multicultural festivals.
This year Lake Macquarie Council will host a free event at Charlestown community hub The Place.
There will be food tasting, music and live entertainment, including Scottish highland dancers from Cardiff Public School.
But the main focus will be on local migrants.
The event coincides with the launch of the council's Lake Macquarie Migrant Stories website.
