Led by garden fairy Grace O'Toole, 13, of Valentine, dozens of children explored the centre's Habitat in Harmony community garden in search of a token to exchange for a chocolate or plastic insect.
It was one of many stalls and activities visited by more than 500 people, mainly families, last Wednesday, March 18.
The afternoon event was started three years ago for residents to learn about the centre and to meet their neighbours.
This year's hunt was hailed "the best yet with plenty of fun for everyone". Go to the newcastlestar.com.au for more images.
