Beach fishing is the talk of the town as anglers have been having a great time catching big tailor.
Whiting have been caught on the southern beaches like Blacksmiths with plenty of quality and numbers keeping anglers happy.
There have been a few nice bream and flathead as a welcome by-catch.
Mulloway continue to be caught from Stockton beach using live baits like legal-length tailor and whiting.
There has also been some Mulloway caught off Stockton breakwall.
A lucky few anglers have found themselves connected to a longtail tuna instead of a mulloway.
One tuna weighing 18 kilograms was landed with many fish racing around the end of the wall and winning their freedom.
The Hunter River and Newcastle Harbour has been fishing well for mixed bags of bream and flathead.
Night fishing for hairtail has been very popular in Newcastle Harbour. LED light floats have been all the rage, attracting the hairtail to the baits.
The crab season continues to yield high numbers and good-size crabs. Both blue swimmer and mud crabs have been caught in the Hunter and Karuah River systems and Newcastle Harbour.
Luderick have started to gather around Lucy's wall in Swansea Channel. Moon Island has been fishing well for squid and some arrow squid can be found around the drop over and Murrays Beach.
