That is what they want newcomers to Cardiff Bowling Club to keep in mind.
Sunday, May 24, bowlers of all abilities can test their skills at the club's Give Bowls A Go day.
Men, women, young and old are welcome to join in a few games of lawn, and barefoot, bowls.
The event is held from 10am to 3pm and includes a free sausage sizzle.
For those who have never picked up a bowl in their life, experienced players will be on hand to show you how it's done.
Club chairman Ken Minotti said there was not much to it.
"Get in close to the little white thing at the end; that's it basically,"he said.
"It's not hard, just a lot of fun."
Ladies division president Brenda Ott said this was what the day was all about.
"We're trying to get people who may be sitting at home alone to get out and enjoy the sunshine and make some new friends," Mrs Ott said.
"We're a friendly club and we'll do our best to make new people feel welcome."
The club has about 300 members and is always looking for more.
Those interested in joining can sign up on the day.
