All water filtration, heating and sanitisation systems were replaced, the pool was retiled, and the reception and kiosk areas were updated.
The centre’s multi-purpose rooms were also refurbished, which will allow for new fitness programs such as yoga and pilates.
The work was part of Lake Macquarie council’s overhaul of its swim centres, including Charlestown, Speers Point and Swansea.
There will be an official reopening at the West Wallsend centre on Saturday, June 27.
Details are still to come.
The centre operates year-round and is open 5.45am to 8pm Monday to Thursday; 5.45am to 7pm on Friday and 7.15am to 5.45pm on weekends and public holidays (4.45pm during winter).
