This Friday, June 12, is #gotyourbacksista day, where women are asked to do acts of kindness for another woman or women.
The day, instigated by a Novocastrian, Melissa Histon-Browning of The Sista Code, is about showing another woman that you've 'got her back', by consciously reaching out to her.
Ms Thomson loved the idea and signed up to hold an event.
As the founder of Mums Empowered, a health and exercise studio that encourages women through motherhood with a focus on nutrition, regular exercise, and improving mental health, she decided to hold a free outdoor fitness session at Merewether.
The session is open to all women and they are asked to bring a friend along to enjoy the hour-long session. Free babysitting will be available.
Ms Thomson wanted to be active in the movement as she believes it supports social change.
"Women need to build each other up, rather than tear each other down," she said.
"There is a culture of women that are complex, bitchy, and they don't mean it when they say they are looking out for one another.
"This is hugely fed by the media, advertising, fitness and fashion industries - there is incredible pressure on women to be perfect.
"[The day] #gotyourbacksista is about genuine acts of kindness and care."
Ms Thomson said it was a great way for women to work together and make positive change.
"It shows the community this is what we stand for [looking after each other]."
