The air rescue service signed an agreement with Lake Macquarie council on Friday for the operational base to be built at the airport, once it is approved.
The news came six months after Lake Macquarie Airport was announced the successful tender to house NSW Health’s new helicopter emergency medical services for the region.
New infrastructure will need to be built at the airport, where round-the-clock medical and flight staff will be based.
