In a series of tweets Dunham expressed her joy at the United States' Supreme Court's ruling on Friday that marriage is now a guaranteed civil right in all 50 states.
"Woke up to learn that love is free!" she wrote. "Thank you to all those who fought so hard to make this historic moment happen."
She then tweeted the Fun musician:

The Girls creator and star has been a longtime supporter of marriage equality. In March she said that she and Antonoff would not get married until same-sex marriage was legal across the US.
"The idea of having a celebration that can't be fully shared among all the people in my life and all the people that we love just doesn't really feel like a celebration at all," she said on Ellen Degeneres's show Ellen. "So until that's something that everyone can join into with no sense of being left out on any level, politically, emotionally, it's just not something that we're gonna do."
Antonoff has not publicly responded to the tweet. His tweet since then is:
marriage includes adoption rights, tax benefits/general benefits and over 1000 more rights and benefits. this is survival for many couples— jackantonoff (@jackantonoff)
