At No 1 Sportsground, Terrigal Avoca had no trouble disposing of bottom-placed Cardiff, 25.16 (166) to 8.4 (52).
Despite his team’s loss, Cardiff coach Adam Dugan was pleased with the performance of the undermanned side, missing twelve of its best players.
“We were up against the best side in the competition ... but the players competed really well for the full match,’’ Dugan said.
On the other hand Terrigal Avoca coach Chris Bishop was unhappy with his team going against their normal style of play.
“We have a number of non negotiables in terms of how we play and we expect those to be adhered to no matter what the scoreboard says. Today we drifted away from those standards,” Bishop said.
