The state government has announced another $1.45 million to convert the old Frost Commercial Kitchen headquarters.
Lambton, New Lambton and Hamilton fire stations will amalgamate under the new plan.
When completed, the new facilities will house two fire trucks, one tanker and two rescue vehicles, 50 firefighters plus another 20 administration staff.
Superintendent Davies said planning for the new Lambton station was complete, with construction to take place over the next 12 months.
A new fence and fire hose infrastructure have already been installed.
Superintendent Davies said the new station would house more resources and give the firefighters more capabilities.
