The ever-popular science shows have a new lease of life with fresh experiments.
For the first time, liquid nitrogen will be the star attraction with a cast of balloons, rubber balls and a banana to show off its cool side.
Museum public programs manager Sam Willcox said the science shows had proven to be a hit with all ages, from toddlers to grandparents, since the museum opened in 1988.
"They make unexplainable things more understandable and demystify science for people," she said.
She said sometimes there were fun experiments that could be replicated at home.
The shows are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11.15am, 12.15pm and 1.15pm these school holidays.
Other activities include song writing and drawing.
These activities are for primary-aged children and cost $10 a child.
They run both Wednesdays of the school holidays, from 10.30am to noon.
For teenagers 12 years and up, there is An Expedition into Zines on Friday, July 10, from noon to 3pm.
Bookings are essential for all activities; phone Newcastle Museum on 4974 1401.
