At No 1 Sportsground, Newcastle City and Nelson Bay had a titanic battle with the Blues prevailing 1.4 (10) to 0.1 (1).
As the scoreboard showed, scoring was at a premium with the only goal of the game coming in the final quarter courtesy of Amelia Sturman.
The match was in the balance right up until the final siren, however Nelson Bay were unable to kick the goals required.
Warners Bay made it four wins in a row with a 6.8 (44) to 1.1 (7) win over Wyong Lakes at Don Small Oval.
It is the second time in two weeks that the Bulldogs have had the better of the Magpies and this win was built on the back of a consistent four quarter performance and a dominant display up forward from Naomi Medlin, who kicked four goals.
Once again Wyong Lakes were gallant however as has been the case all year their inability to kick goals was an issue.
On Sunday, Lake Macquarie proved too strong for a depleted Maitland side winning 11.19 (85) to 1 (06).
