Alex Clinton, Connor Edwards and Ethan Dawber represented the NSW Country under-16 boys side that finished fourth.
After seven straight wins, the boys made it to the bronze medal play-off and lost to QLD South.
The NSW Country under-16 girls side, with Newcastle representatives Kayla McSpadden, Isabel Palmer and sisters Josie and Ella Pinkerton, finished 11th.
The girls won three and lost three games in the pool rounds and did not progress to the quarter finals.
Newcastle Hunters under-16 boys coach Barry Dawber said both teams played well.
‘‘It was a great result for the boys considering there was a lot of pressure on them to perform,’’ he said.
‘‘As for the girls, their coach would have liked to have seen them finish in the top eight, but it’s a tough competition and they did well, all things considered.’’
