UrbanGrowth plans to open up the community consultation period between August 10 and September 18.
Key projects on the agenda include an adaptive use of Newcastle Train Station and the depot, the Market Street connection and the Civic Station precinct.
UrbanGrowth plans to come back with a broad plan by the end of the year.
Newcastle train station's security questioned
COMMUNITY group Save Our Rail has lashed out at the state government, stating its security arrangements for Newcastle station were not up to scratch.
After train services into Newcastle were terminated, the state government introduced fencing and roaming security guards around the heritage-listed building.
Save Our Rail says those security patrols have now stopped.
