In the first quarter each side started strong in their defense with a combination of circle and midcourt work.
Bilbie Dan established their court movement at a comfortable pace, though it took a bit longer for Souths to settle their usual rhythm.
The result was an even score of 8 at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams pushed through the second quarter with more force.
Souths displayed their swift and accurate feeding to their shooters.
While Bilbie Dan’s defence further pressurised Souths attacks, both inside the circle and around. The half-time score was 15-17 in Souths favour.
Both teams showed no sign of fatigue throughout the second half, though in the final quarter Souths came out with a new fire, with their defence vigorous and constant as they created turnovers from well-anticipated intercepts throughout the court.
With Souths' prominent rhythm taking hold of the court, so did their lead finishing the game at 40-29.
In other matches Maryville Tavern beat Junction Hotel Stella 48-19, BNC 1 lost 32-69 to Forsythes Business Advisors, and BNC 2 lost 27-50 to Junction Hotel Yoga Loft.
On the championship ladder South Leagues Netball Club leads with 38 points, followed by Forsythes Business Advisors on 34, Junction Hotel Yoga Loft on 32 and Maryville Tavernon 30.
The next Greater Open Championship matches will be played Saturday, August 1, on National Park courts 8 and 9 at 2.30pm and 3.45pm.
