At Bateau Bay Sporting Facility, Terrigal Avoca overcame a tough challenge from their nearest title contender, Newcastle City before winning 12.9.81 to 6.10.46.
The defensive efforts from both teams were very good.
However, Terrigal Avoca were able to find multiple avenues to goals, which was illustrated by the fact that they had 10 individual goalkickers.
Whilst Newcastle City struggled to find a consistent winner up forward especially with star goalkicker, Courtney Knight held to two goals by James Hart.
This is an area the coach, Mitch Knight will need at address if they are to trouble the Panthers in the finals.
In the other matches Warners Bay beat Cardiff 11.15.81 to 12.7.79 and Killarney Vale beat Nelson Bay 16.22.118 to 7.6.48.
In first division, Newcastle City drew against Terrigal Avoca, Singleton defeated Warners Bay, Cardiff were too strong for a depleted Lake Macquarie side; Killarney Vale drew against Wyong Lakes and Maitland had a bye.
In second division Newcastle City beat Terrigal Avoca, Cardiff defeated Muswellbrook, Singleton won against Warners Bay, The Entrance Bateau Bay beat Maitland, Lake Macquarie defeated Killarney Vale while Nelson Bay and Wyong Lakes had the bye.
