Close to 1200 pairs of hot pink socks were sold to rugby clubs for the kick-off weekend at various grounds across the region.
Local referees for juniors and seniors games also wore pink socks.
With one in eight women being diagnosed with breast cancer, the foundation launched the campaign to heighten public awareness while raising money that will help the women and their families.
Boot Out Breast Cancer has been adopted by the Hunter Junior Rugby Union and the rugby community and will be a permanent fixture in the rugby calendar.
