Both teams fought to advance to the grand final.
From the outset, both sides placed pressure on each other, as multiple turnovers were made at either end of the court.
Though due to some missed opportunities made by Souths in their attacking end, this gave Forsythes the upper hand as they led by one goal, 8-9, heading into the second quarter.
Souths’ defensive pressure increased throughout the middle third of the court, leaving the score even at 17-17 at half-time.
As Souths began to recoup, Forsythes didn’t shown any sign of backing down, displaying some well-placed lob passes under the post to their goal shooter.
The third quarter score saw Souths crawl ahead 30-27, giving them a comfortable lead into the final quarter.
After a change in both teams’ mid-court positions, Souths remained heavy in their defence, with the score at one stage the difference of eight goals.
Forsythes’ long passes, which worked efficiently in the first half, seemed to have too much oomph, which gave them some missed opportunities in the final quarter.
Souths prevailed 41-35, a result which saw them bag a spot in the grand final.
The next game will see Maryville Tavern play Forsythes Business Advisors, in what will be yet another tense and gripping game in the competition as they battle it out for a position in the grand final.
The final between Maryville Tavern and Forsythes Business Advisors will be played on court 9 in National Park at 2.30pm on Saturday, August 29.
