Diagnosed with leukaemia in 1995, the 83-year-old has been a constant supporter of the Cancer Council for many years, helping raise money for research and patient support.
She will set up shop at the John Hunter Hospital again this Friday from 6am, selling daffodils and other merchandise.
Mrs Hunter lost her first husband, mother and father to various forms of cancer.
She said her own cancer diagnosis had only recently caught up with her physically, making her more tired.
On top of her annual Daffodil Day duties, Mrs Hunter also volunteers weekly at the John Hunter Hospital, washing premature baby clothes and patients' nightwear.
Her love of volunteering dates back many decades, having put up her hand for dozens of events, including Surfest, Sydney Royal Easter Show, Olympic Games, Youth Olympics, Seniors Week and Red Shield Appeal just to name a few.
"I'm not stopping any time soon. I love volunteering and meeting new people," she said.
More than 5000 volunteers are expected to help out with Daffodil Day fundraising across 650 sites this year.
Now in its 29th year, Daffodil Day is one of the largest fundraising events in the southern hemisphere.
Since its inception it has raised more than $133 million for life-saving cancer research, support services and prevention programs.
Last year Daffodil Day raised $8 million to help efforts to beat cancer.
This year the Cancer Council hopes to raise $9 million.
■ Daffodil Day will be held this Friday, August 28. For more information about volunteering, you can go online to daffodilday.com.au.
