The two-day racing event will include four Group 3 feature races, the StrathAyr Cameron Handicap, the Coca Cola Spring Stakes, the Tibbie Stakes and the XXXX Gold Newcastle Cup.
Newcastle Jockey Club chief executive officer Cameron Williams said this year’s Spring Carnival was shaping up very well under the new Friday-Saturday format.
The club had recently undergone a number of major refurbishments, including the development of a new inside racetrack, which will be launched on the first day of Spring Carnival, he said.
A new state-of-the-art video screen has also been installed adjacent to the finishing post.
Former Miss Universe Australia winner Tegan Martin has been announced as the 2015 Newcastle Spring Carnival Ladies Day Ambassador.
She will complete filming with Celebrity Apprentice Australia just in time to attend Spring Carnival Ladies Day on the Saturday.
