On Sunday at 2am clocks need to be turned forward an hour to 3am.
Although an hour of sleep is lost, it means the sunrise and sunset will be about one hour later on October 4 than the day before.
Daylight saving heralds summer and warmer weather, and more time outdoors. In the long run it means more light in the evening, which also sees more people enjoying Newcastle's and Lake Macquarie's coastal lifestyle.
In six months' time, the clocks will be wound back.
Time to move your clocks forward
