More than 11,000 residents backed Swansea MP Yasmin Catley's campaign against the state government's decision to close the registry and relocate its services to a newly-opened Service NSW centre in Warners Bay.
The Belmont registry is scheduled to close this Friday (October 16) and the matter will not be debated in parliament until November 26.
Ms Catley said she would argue against the suitability of the Warners Bay centre's location, which was previously a motor registry.
"It was a lazy decision by the state government to put [the Service NSW centre] in an existing registry without a rigorous consultative process," she said.
"People are very angry about that."
Ms Catley listened to residents' concerns at Belmont & District Residents' Action Group's second public meeting about the matter last week.
She urges anyone who is having issues accessing the Warners Bay centre to contact her office, Service NSW or the Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Dominic Perrottet.
In the neighbouring electorate of Lake Macquarie, MP Greg Piper is fighting to keep Toronto Motor Registry, which is scheduled to close on October 23 for the same reason as the Belmont registry.
After collecting 11,000 signatures in about two weeks, Mr Piper lodged his petition last month and will debate the matter in parliament on October 22.
Mr Piper said the debate would "force [the government] to acknowledge the inconvenience and disadvantage it will cause for people living in western and southern Lake Macquarie".
He said while the campaign was predominantly for a Service NSW centre in Toronto, negotiations had produced interim arrangements, including a weekly mobile office to operate out of Toronto and Morisset until February.
A temporary bus service will operate between Toronto Motor Registry and the Warners Bay centre on Thursdays for three weeks after the registry's closure.
Mobile offices will also run in Belmont and Swansea but the timeframe has yet to be confirmed.
