As one of the newspaper’s longest-serving editors, Miss Davidson spent more than a decade at the helm and helped build the paper into what it is today, now in its 36th year.
Miss Davidson initiated several successful sponsorships for The Star, including Lifeline’s Bookfest and the Cancer Council’s Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Relay For Life.
She forged The Star’s digital path, working tirelessly to transform it into a multi-platform masthead. Miss Davidson coached and mentored more than a dozen journalists.
Before she became The Star’s editor, Miss Davidson worked as the editor of Farming Small Areas and The Land for five years.
Now, at the end of her reign, Ms Davidson has thanked the community for its support.
“It has been an honour and a privilege. It is the people I will miss the most because without people, a community cannot exist.”
