More than 300 students, teachers and parents from schools as far south as Gosford, as far west as Merriwa and as far north as Karuah attended the ceremony, with more than $8000 worth of prizes on offer from sponsor, the Newcastle Permanent Building Society.
Over 1300 students particpated in the competition this year – a joint initiative with the Perm – with teams producing their own two-page newspaper published in the herald through out the year.
Students were awarded for the best stories, photographs, advertisements, cartoons and comment pieces, with best overall primary entry going to Jewells Primary School and All Saints College, St Joseph’s Campus Lochinvar taking out the secondary award.
