The second-last event in the annual series, which runs from October to February, the challenge will see hundreds of nippers battle it out on the beach and in the surf.
The challenge was set up to mirror the famous Kellogg’s Ironman series and help develop junior surf lifesavers’ skills.
It is open to competitors aged nine to 15 and includes events across all surf sport disciplines, with individual events such as beach sprint, beach flags, surf race, board race and iron person, as well as team events.
New to the series is the all-ages Medibank Ocean Swim Run – a 200-metre swim followed by a two-kilometre beach run – which will be held from 7am to 8.30am before the Wave Warriors event kicks off at 9am.
- Medibank Wave Warriors Junior Challenge and Medibank Ocean Swim Run, Saturday, January 30 at Newport Surf Life Saving Club from 7am.
