The programs offer individuals, organisations and businesses funding through four categories - events, economic development, community assistance and recreation facilities.
Our grant and sponsorship programs provide a real chance for people with innovative and creative ideas to secure funds for projects or activities that make our city a better place to live, work and visit. The programs help foster a creative, culturally rich and safe community that has vibrant and activated public places for everyone to enjoy. They also strengthen our city's appeal and promote business and cultural opportunities.
The events sponsorship program is the most competitive category with funding of up to $25,000 per event. The economic development program offers up to $20,000 per project. Smaller grants of up to $5000 are available under the community assistance and recreation facilities programs to help neighbourhood projects, community events and improve local recreation facilities.
Through the sponsorship and grants program in 2015-16, Council supported more than 40 projects including the Newi Awards for digital creativity and the Lantern Walk.
Applications are open until 5pm on May 2. More information is available at newcastle.nsw.gov.au.
