Starring Newcastle’s own Steel City Su (AKA Su Morley) and three top blokes from the ACT, Thingamy Bob on drums, Blindboy Murray on guitar and Caltex Star on string bass, they will tip their hats to the country and rockabilly stars of yore and perhaps a little to spaghetti western composer Ennio Moricone.
They also freely acknowledge the influences of Ian Turpee, Tony Barber, TV game shows, and the great composers of 70’s and early 80’s television commercials.
Catch them on Thursday, June 9.
Mezz Bar
A NEW bar at the Wallsend Diggers is promising to bring the inner city vibe to the suburbs.
After 15 months under construction and with a multi-million dollar budget, the Mezz Bar is now open.
It will host free entertainment, including live bands and DJs every Friday and Saturday night. And on Sundays there is also entertainment between 1.30 and 5pm.
The Mezz Bar is located in Tyrrell Street, Wallsend.
Diversity
A CELEBRATION of Unity in Diversity will be held in Newcastle on Sunday, June 5.
It is a chance to share and learn about cultures as an early start to the national Refugee Week celebrations. Meet at Newcastle Museum at 11am for a welcome walk to Civic Park where the festival will take place until 3pm.
There will be live performances from across the globe.
