Kristen, the members of the Board and I are passionate about the success of Lake Macquarie City. Our vision for the City is to create vibrancy and prosperity through sustainable economic growth and increased employment opportunities.
We want to build on our strengths, assisting existing businesses and targeting emerging industries to expand development in the City, while balancing the lifestyle and environmental aims of the community.
As part of this, we want our City to be more connected, innovative and inclusive and use technology to make Lake Macquarie even better.
Together with Idea Bombing Newcastle, we’re hosting Hacktivate the City, a free event on June 15 for the Lake Macquarie community to learn about open data and how it helps to create open and responsive governments, better cities and engaged citizens.

Open data is data that anyone can access, use or share, and when big companies or governments release non-personal data, it enables small businesses, residents, start-ups and researchers to develop resources which make crucial improvements to communities such as ours.
