It will be held from August 11 to 21, and this week received a funding boost when Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald handed over a $5000 grant for the inaugural event.
The festival aims to foster the development of young musicians through a number of events in which students have the chance to learn from and perform alongside fine local and guest professionals.
“With a jam-packed program of concerts, master classes and recitals, the festival promises to be a treat for all music lovers,” Jenny Barrie, Newcastle Music Festival committee member said.
