The event returns this year after being washed out because of the 2015 super storm.
Event organiser Karen Hutchinson said nobody would have ever thought than an event could be based on a brick and that people could have so much fun throwing a basic object.
“It’s that time of year again, the time where the iconic Stroud Brick-throwing competition takes place, this year striding into the wild, wild, west for their 56th brick and rolling pin throwing event," she said.
The contest has been part of the Stroud community since 1961. Past contestants have competed internationally against Canada, England and the United States.
Men will line up for a chance to demonstrate their skill and masculinity in the brick throwing event while women will toss specialised rolling pins and children chuck a rubber chicken. The children’s event means the whole family can be involved in the day and have some fun in a country town.
A few thousand people are expected to travel to the town to witness the historic event.
“There is something for everyone at this monumental family based event which has community values embedded in its foundations,” Ms Hutchinson said.
“The town gathered in support, with a sense of community filling the air. In spite of last years’ setback however, the enthusiasm has not been quashed and everyone is looking forward to ‘wild’ celebration in 2016.”
The parade begins at 10.30am on the corner of Cowper Street. The competition starts at 11.30am at Stroud Showground. For more information visit www.stroudbrickthrowing.com.au
