Dantia is an external company to Council, which delivers economic development activities that support retention and growth of existing local businesses, and attract more business to our City. As Mayor of Lake Macquarie, I have the pleasure of sitting on the Board. I, along with our current members of the Board, am passionate about the success of Lake Macquarie. We want to build on our strengths, assist existing businesses and target emerging industries to expand development in the City, while balancing the lifestyle and environmental aims of the community.
The Board is also to be congratulated for their recent work on achieving a number of key strategies, including the opening of DasH, a co-working space in Charlestown. Lake Macquarie is home to a vibrant and growing creative and digital business community. Identifying and supporting creative economic clusters, or geographic areas where like businesses enjoy the benefits of being located together, is one of the ways Council continues to encourage growth.
Speaking of Charlestown, this week another international retailer opens its doors there. We’re proud that retailers are choosing our City and it highlights the diversity and dynamic nature of our local economy.
